| Storskog
is traditional / spontaneous music... grown from hands and throats
and hearts and ears. Ghosts of old ways, and whispers from simpler
selves, given free-reign to sing and play. The band is half Swedish,
half Californian (the holy alliance of beautiful places). With
songs created by Mania Lozinska and Fletcher Tucker
(a.k.a. Bird By Snow).
The
songs themselves, sung primarily in Swedish, draw from old folk
melodies and themes of ancient Scandinavian candle light, and
wild west-coast redwood ranges, as well as the spontaneous discovery
that is ever-present-everywhere. Instruments include: cello, jews
harp, hmong harp, shruti box, guitar, hether harp, banjo, wood
flute, melodica, over-tone singing, voices, chance recordings.
The songs are simply an artifact of an effemeral moment, two people
tuned in to the boundless generosity of life, and the ineffable
good of being anything at all.
We
are presenting a collection of Storskog song-happenings for free
as part of our Gnome Live Free series, download it and
enjoy. Oh yeah, "Storskog" means "old-growth forest"
in Swedish.
